Big Shoes to Fill

Here's Drew trying to put on Papa's boots. He didn't get too far before falling down- and Momma is not really sure where his pants are. He normally doesn't like to be undressed or be missing any part of his clothing.

Baby Dedication on Mother's Day

Jacob Layne was dedicated to the Lord on Mother's Day- May 11. We want to raise our children in a home that serves the Lord and we want to teach them to "Trust in the Lord with all of their heart and lean not on their own understanding. In all their ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct their paths.' Proverbs 3:5-6

Here our Pastor and Family Minister pray for our family as we raise our children to trust in the Lord.

I've got two dimples!!!!

What a handsome little guy!! Momma wanted everyone to see those two dimples and those big cheeks. Isn't this hilarious?

Family Bonding Time

Drew gets really excited to hold Jake... for about 2 seconds and then he is done and says "no" to let you know he's finished. He loves to play with Jake on the floor and tickle him. He calls Jake "baby" most of the time- but is getting better each day about calling him Jake. The boys were all snoozing in bed one morning and Momma couldn't pass up that picture.

12:15 am- It's time to go to the hospital!

Welcome to the world Jacob Layne! We have been anxiously awaiting your arrival- apparently you were eager to get here quicker than 9 am! Momma and Daddy had been working on cleaning the house Thursday night and went to bed around 11 pm. A c-section had been scheduled to deliver me at 9 am Friday, April 25. At 12:15 am, Momma's water broke- I couldn't wait until 9 am. We got to the hospital around 1 pm after we packed our car ( Drew was at the Cooley grandparent's house). Jacob Layne was delivered at 3:10 am and weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces (exactly what Drew was). He was 19.5 inches long with a little bit of dark hair and dark blue eyes (for now). He has really long fingers and toes and looks similar to his brother's baby pictures.
Proud Grandparents!!!! Thanks for coming so early in the morning to the hospital and thanks for taking care of Drew while we were at the hospital. He enjoys spending time with you all- and we know Jake will too.

Here is our precious little one being patient while mommy takes a million pictures of him. It is such an exciting time- a new child. We are looking forward to all the memories and seeing how Drew reacts with a new brother. They are 2 years and 1 month apart. Wish us luck!!!!

We are the proud, tired parents of a sweet little boy. We know he is a big boy and weighed the same as Drew did, but he just seems smaller than Drew. Maybe he just has skinnier legs and lacks the "rubber-band wrists" that Drew had. He went home weighed 8 pounds and 4.5 ounces. Even though you see a pacifier in his mouth right now, he is really not a big fan of it.

Let's load up and get home! We have been here 12 hours longer than necessary and it's time to go home and see big brother Drew and Max (our pug). We had a great experience at our hospital and appreciate everyone that took care of us and Jake.

Easter 2008

Happy Easter Drew Drew! What did the Easter bunny bring you this year? I see some candy, cars, and bubbles!! Man- he knows exactly what you like to eat and play with. Below, Ava enjoyed helping Drew get everything out of his Easter basket so he could get a better view of all of his gifts. Thanks for the help Miss Ava!

We went over to Big Daddy and Grandma's house for Easter lunch. Momma is getting bigger and bigger each day. We still have another month before my brother Jake will arrives. The end is near mom- try to relax!!!

Here I am hunting for eggs at Gamma and Papa's house. I found eggs filled with candy and dollars too. Me and my cousin Colby were the only ones hunting for eggs- Jake will be running around with us next year.

Play time with Birthday toys!

I have been wanting to go outside all the time so I can play in the bubbles. Ava got me a bubble machine for my birthday. I enjoy chasing them, popping them, and eating them. I also love to play on this blow-up obstacle course from Grandma and Papa Cooley. The slide is so much fun!

Potty Training

You can't look at this picture and not laugh! He looks like he is posing, but I think his Daddy was talking to him while he was reading a book. NO- he is not trained yet. He really has no desire to go potty in the toilet. He sometimes likes to go and just sit- which is ok. It is going to be lots of fun buying diapers for two kids.

The Big Day- March 22

I'm officially two!!!!! Yea!!! For what seems like a whole year now, Drew has told everyone that he was already two years old. Well, the big day has finally arrived! He had a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party at Kid's Station. Here, he is blowing out the candles on his cake.

Drew was surrounded by lots of friends and family for his 2nd birthday. We had several friends that came in from out of town for his birthday party and we were so grateful to have them there. Here's Drew and cousin Colby eating cake.... their second pieces.

Here's what the party looked like. It looks like most of the kids have stepped back out in the play area while the parents visit.

Drew had a great time playing with all of his friends. He spent a lot of time in the ball pit.

Here's Daddy trying to help me through the tunnels. Needless to say, Daddy was extremely worn out... carrying 35 pounds around becomes challenging after about a minute.

Here is a picture of two of momma's closest friends. Amy and Laura went to school with momma and they have been friends for a long time. Thanks for coming to my party!

Three of my Favorite Things

Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic..... a few of my favorite things!! Well, replace the arithmetic with playing outside and you've got three activities I love doing. Hopefully one day, with Momma's help, arithmetic will be one of my favorite things. The tricycle was from Grandma and Grandpa Cooley for Christmas. They forgot to give it to me at our family Christmas party.

Will you be my Valentine?

We hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day! I have reached a point in my life where suckers are my favorite type of candy.

Still Loving to Eat

My favorite pasttime has not changed- it is still eating. Believe it or not- I do know how to use a fork and at some point I was using one. If I get tired of the spaghetti falling off, I resort back to using my hands. Then, momma and daddy have one huge mess to clean up.

Merry Christmas to Drew!!!!!

I got a lot of stuff in my stocking, but I really enjoyed the chocolate Santa Clauses the most. Momma helped me open some of my gifts while Daddy most of his time putting them together so I could play with them. Thanks DAD!

Daddy got a really cool present this year- I will even love to play on it! It's called Rockband and you can play the drums, sing and play two guitars. The present was from Big Daddy, Grandma, and us. Hope you enjoy it Daddy!

Look what Santa brought me! My very own workshop! I can hammer, saw, drill, and make all kinds of other noises that drive mom and dad crazy! What was Santa thinking?!! In the second picture above, I look somewhat sleepy here, but let me assure you that I am very excited about my first football. Notice the team on the side- of course, none other than the TEXAS A&M AGGIES! Whoop!

Cooley Family Christmas-Dec 2007

We had a good time playing with all of our toys at Grandma and Papa's house. I got a basketball goal, a remote control car, a helicopter, a walking dinosaur, and lots more. Thanks for all the toys everyone. We had a great time chasing Papa's remote control helicopter all over the house. No one could really get it to fly smoothly and it kept hitting all of the furniture and then falling to the ground. Daddy bought one after Christmas because I liked watching it fly so much. Something broke on it and we didn't get to play with it for much time at all.

Cox Christmas Dec 2007

We finally got a family picture. Drew never sits still long enough to take a good picture. It's going to be the last Christmas with just the three of us! We will really be broke when we try to spoil two kids at Christmas time!

Thanks Big Daddy and Grandma for all of the cool toys. I love the grill and the Mickey Mouse clubhouse and the truck that holds all the cars. Thanks for the cash register Paxton and Mackey- now I like to swipe momma's card at Wal-Mart everytime she goes.

The Cox grandkids were all enjoying playing with Mackey's Christmas present- a kitchen. Women- don't you wish more men would follow after these guys and cook more? Who knows- it might end up tasting just like plastic when they get done! ha!

Is it a Boy or a Girl?

Momma went to the doctor to find out what the sex of the baby was and I will be getting a brother in April. They have not decided what his name will be yet, so we will update that later. It is time now to get his room ready and get all the baby stuff out of the attic. We used the shirt I am wearing to tell the grandparents that we were going to have a new addition to the Cox family.

Friends Christmas Party 2007

We got together with the Griffin, Hagen, and Duplissey families for a Christmas party. This is Alex and he has become a good buddy of mine. Although, I am exactly sure why he has a potty lid on his head right now. Karleigh is another good buddy. All three of our families eat dinner together on Wednesday nights at church and our parents are in the same Sunday School class. Karleigh is 3 years old and we are both 1 ( on our way to 2)!

Thanksgiving 2007

I went to the pumpkin patch at St. Luke's and got to see pumpkins of all different sizes. I am 20 months old here and into everything. I am going to the Mother's Day Out program at St. Luke's twice a week. I have learned alot there and met some new friends. It also gives Grandma a break to do things around the house that I normally prevent her from doing!

The Little Man is Sick- November 2007

Here I am doing my breathing treatments. I had to do these for about 2 months because of a persistent cough. My treatments lasted about 2 months. As long as cartoons were on, I was good to go. Momma is trying to relax here because she is about 3 months pregnant and teaching has worn her out. We get to find out if I am getting a brother or a sister in December when she is 20 weeks along.
